Jase Powell
Jase Powell is a visual artist and photographer born in Hackney, east London and currently living in the Netherlands. He also creates work under the name ‘supercreativesouls’. His work has been described as original, soulful and thought-provoking.
His artwork is a personal response to what goes on around him both in the past and in the present, ranging from childhood memories to current affairs. He creates images from his response to the world and uses materials to bring his work to life such as Lego, faux ostrich skin, flock, among others. Combining these images and materials brings both texture and meaning to his work.
Jase Powell about his series “Things People Say”
“Much of what I do is influenced by things I see, people and conversations. I visually want to show what is being said during those conversations and how words physically make people feel.
” ‘OF COURSE I LOVE YOU’ is said and meant in the most sincere way. Faux ostrich skin fabric is used due to its similarity to the physical effect on human skin when a certain song is heard or something meaningful / inspirational is expressed, GOOSEBUMPS, a reaction every person has experienced in one way or another…”
